IBN-CNN is in need of some serious vocabulary help and gender sensitisation. Perhaps they are required by editors to use ‘bizarre’ and ’shocking’ in all events pertaining to the harrassment of women–even though these are only too common to be called as such.
In a bizarre incident, at least 12 cases of eve-teasing were reported from the north campus of Delhi University on Saturday.
Shockingly, the girls were harassed by police recruits who had come to take an entrance exam.
Again, Indian police is giving itself a bad name. Thankfully the students won’t stand for it and have been protesting.

See this story at Ultra Violet about a gender sensitisation initiative with the Karnataka police.

[...] Preeti Chauhan goes off about the police harrassment on the Delhi campus (see my post on the incident and protests). It’s not only shameful but just outrageous that these kinds of things are happening right in the heart of the capital of India! Isn’t these the heights of patriarchal audacity that some men can now dare to harass a women even in a crowded place and we were told it happened only to women travelling late at night and all alone so to blame them of being so careless and asking for troubles themselves!
