Men thinking pink

Indian Fashion Week has just finished and this TOI article proclaims that men must flaunt their repressed love of pink, regardless of whatever nonsense recent research has shown.

Model Rajat Bhasin quips, “Who gives a damn? And anyway, the study has been conducted too late. Pink is in and enjoys a firm existence in the fashion scene. Guess they’ll just have to withdraw their conclusions. Pink is common, even high-end apparel brands have introduced pink in their Prêt collections, which are sell-outs.”

Interesting to think that the fashion industry both challenges and reinforces gender ideology. Of course Indian fashion is different than that in the West–men are much more fond of colours here, so I’m sure they’ll be taking to this pink thing.
