Highlighting the need for formulating “gender-specific” development programmes for the country, President Pratibha Patil today said greater representation of women in all walks of life was the key to realising our full potential as a nation. “A woman’s perspective is indispensable for broad-based and balanced development of a country. Our development programmes must therefore specifically address issues and concerns of women in different sectors ranging from agriculture to industry,” she said.

Always a good lady to turn to for lofty quotes stating the obvious on gender and development.
